Obituary of Eileen T Smith

Please share a memory of Eileen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eileen Smith-Stanton passed away peacefully at her home in Morristown on October 29, 2015, surrounded by family at the age of 49. Eileen was born and raised in Orange, NJ until she moved to Morristown, NJ in 2001. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and Essex County College (Registered Nurse). She started her nursing career at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and then moved to New York-Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia. In 2004, Eileen was diagnosed with breast cancer. In typical Eileen fashion, she rose to the challenge and refused to let this disease, define who she was or control her life. She continued with her career, traveled and raised her daughters. Eileen created the “Grateful Alive” team, which participated in 10, NYC -Avon 39 walks and raised over 200,000 dollars for breast cancer research. She loved her summers in Cape Cod & LBI, and never had a problem finding time for a beach day. Eileen always cherished her times with family and friends. Eileen is lovingly remembered by her husband of 14 years, Reginald Stanton and their two beautiful daughters, Perpetua Tess and Seton Elizabeth. Eileen is also survived by her loving sister, Maureen Rupinski and husband Joseph of Bridgewater, NJ; brothers, Edward Smith and wife Marguerite of Bridgewater, NJ; Thomas Smith and wife Beth of Caldwell, NJ; and Brian Smith of Morristown, NJ. She was the Aunt to 14 nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mary (Kearns) Smith. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 94 Maple Avenue, Morristown, N.J. 07960. In lieu of flowers, a college fund has been set up for the daughters; make donations to “Tomorrow’s Scholar” C/O – Trinity Financial Strategies, 65 Madison Avenue, Suite 300 – Tim Brunnock, Morristown, NJ 07960. Arrangements were under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains, NJ.
