Obituary of Charlotte Adelaide Allen Luckey

Charlotte Adelaide Allen Luckey passed away peacefully on February 19, 2017. She was 99. Charlotte was born and raised in Harkness, NY on her family’s farm. She was the daughter of William Allen and Wreatha Newell Allen. In 1934 she graduated from Keeseville HS, Keeseville, NY. After graduation she came to Morristown to live with her aunt and worked as a secretary in a real estate/insurance company. She met her husband of 62 years, Sidney Luckey, through the Morristown Presbyterian Church Fellowship. They were married at her family’s home in New York State and settled in Morris Plains. Charlotte was a homemaker in the true sense of the word. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed cooking, crafting, gardening, and oil painting. Charlotte and Sid enjoyed traveling to many places around the world and spending part of each winter in Florida. Charlotte was a member of the Presbyterian Church Circle 12 and the Friday Folders group. She also belonged to the Morristown Woman’s Club and the Morris Plains Garden Club. She actively participated in charity work delivering meals on wheels and with the Morristown Rotary Anns. She lived a full and wonderful life providing an example of being a productive and responsible citizen. Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Sidney Luckey. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Decker and husband, Dwight Decker of Newfane, VT, and Martha Hatch of Long Valley, NJ; her grandchildren, Scott Decker of Marco Island, FL, Keith Decker of Charleston, SC, Heather Decker of Colchester, VT, Chris Hatch of Summit, NJ., and Stephanie Cirone of Long Valley, NJ. She is also survived by six great–grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Morristown Presbyterian Church Chapel, 57 East Park Pl., Morristown, NJ 07960. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Morristown Presbyterian Church, 65 South St., Morristown, NJ 07960 or Compassionate Care Hospice.
