Obituary of Lesley J. Louie

Lesley J. Louie, 55, of Morristown, NJ passed away on June 7, 2023 in Morristown.

Lesley’s Celebration of Life will be held at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ  07950 on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 10:30 AM.

Lesley, the youngest of six daughters, was born in Neptune, NJ to Lee and Sue Louie of Freehold, NJ on December 26, 1967. Born with Down Syndrome, Lesley lived at home with her parents until adulthood when she became a resident of a group home in Brick Township and for the past 15 years, a resident of a small group home in Morristown. Lesley worked for many years in various jobs for ARC where she was an enthusiastic and loyal employee; she loved the routine and the paychecks. Lesley will be remembered for her love of music, dancing, and food, especially hamburgers and soft serve ice cream. She was an accomplished bowler and won numerous trophies from competing in the Special Olympics.

Lesley is survived by her mother Sue, of Quincy, MA, sisters Judy (Andy), Belinda (Bill), Diane (Paul), Joanne (Bob), Sally, nieces Julia, Clare and Betsy, nephew Alec and great nephew Robbie. Lesley’s father Lee predeceased her.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude and thanks to the many caregivers who provided Lesley with excellent care, love, and support, especially those at Cottage Place: Marilyn, Araminta, Debo, Mauvalyn, Bernadette, Laura, Patience, Saritha, Deiondre, Jennifer, and Roxanne. The family also appreciates the many years of friendship and companionship shared with Lesley by her former housemates Mary Beth, Cryshedia and Ann.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Special Olympics New Jersey, 1 Eunice Kennedy Shriver Way, Lawrenceville, NJ  08648, made payable to “Special Olympics NJ” with the memo line “In Memory of Lesley J. Louie”.
