Obituary of William Charles Johnson

~~William C “Bill” Johnson, a Williamsburg resident for the past 18 years, died on June 22 at the age of 83.


Bill was born and raised in the Morristown, NJ area; graduated from MHS in 1952; and was
Superintendent of Mails at the Morris Plains Post Office before joining The Morris County Savings Bank as an Appraiser in 1969.  From 1990-93, he worked for The Resolution Trust Corporation as an Asset Specialist before retiring to Williamsburg, VA.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Edna Gladys Artt and Arthur Arvid Johnson; his brother, Robert A. Johnson; sister-in-law, Bette Joan Kast; and sons, W. Eric Johnson and D. Alan “Al” Johnson.

Bill leaves to carry on his legacy of love and inclusion his wife of 60 years, Ann M. Johnson (Perry); daughter, Leslie K. Huesing (Ted), of Belle Mead NJ; sons, Steven R. (Susan Hyatt), of Ossining, NY, David W. (Olga), of Mine Hill, NJ, Mark A. ,of Williamsburg, VA; granddaughters, Chelsea M. and Courtney P. Huesing, of Belle Mead, NJ, Kristina L. Johnson of Randolph, NJ; sister-in-law Melissa Perry Ginsberg (Robert), of Wimauwa, FL; and nephews, Marc Ginsberg, of Dover, NJ and Jason Ginsberg ,of Wimauwa, FL.


Over the years, Bill was involved with DeMolay, Cub and Boy Scouts, Dr. Tufts Memorial Bowling League, Watnong Garden Club, Voluntary Action Center in Morristown, Church of The Redeemer, and Project Manager for renovations of Redeemer Rectory to become The Eric Johnson house.


The Church of the Redeemer played a large part in Bill’s life from a young choir boy to serving on most committees and becoming a Vestry member and Senior Warden.  During the passing of the peace at services, he was sought after for his warm and generous, non-judgmental hugs.  


The family wishes to especially thank Dr. Charles Seager and Dr. Anh Campbell for the excellent care    given Bill these past years.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Jersey Aids Services, the Eric Johnson House, 44 South Street, Morristown NJ 07960; or the charity of your choice.


Funeral services by Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains NJ, with the viewing on Thursday, June 29 from 4 to 8 pm and services at The Church of the Redeemer, 36 South Street Morristown, on Friday, June 30th at 10:00am.
