Monica Snead Martin, 99, was born the 9th of August 1924 in Belmont Abbey, Hereford, England to James Henry Snead and Elizabeth Annie Snead (formally Dovey).  It is here she met Sgt. 1st Class James Franklin Martin, originally of Harrison County, West Virgina.  They were married, both at age 20, at Belmont Abbey, in Herefordshire, England on the 11th of June 1945.  Monica would then accompany James “Jim” back to the United States and settle in Morgantown, West Virginia.  Monica would become a naturalized United States citizen in 1952.

Jim would eventually be offered a position at Warner Lambert Pharmaceutical Company in Morris Plains, New Jersey.  First living in Morris Plains, then moving to Convent Station in 1972.  Monica and Jim were avid bridge players.  It is through their bridge club that they met many of their friends.  Monica and Jim enjoyed their travels abroad, especially visiting Monica’s family back in England.
