Mohammad A. Khan, M.D., pioneer of pathology and former Director of Laboratories at Dover General Hospital, passed on March 20, 2024, in Denville, New Jersey. He was 89 years old.

Born on December 3, 1934, in Poonch, Kashmir, to Kashmiri parents, Dr. Khan graduated from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, where he decided to pursue a career in pathology. He emigrated to the United States, and began his residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in New York, after which he joined Morristown Memorial Hospital as an Associate Pathologist from 1969 to 1971. From 1971 to 1985, he held the same position at Dover General Hospital where he found great success, and completed his career as Director of Laboratories in 2012.

Dr. Khan was strong-willed with an impeccably sharp intellect. No matter how complicated the situation, he was always able to offer valuable insight. Dr. Khan possessed an impressive memory, and was able to recall even the most minute details from his childhood when regaling his relatives with stories from his expansive life experiences.

He enjoyed a life full of culturally enriched travel, watching sports, and cooking his famous chicken curry for his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Emily, four sons, Akhtar, Iqbal, Aslam, and Taj, and 11 grandchildren. Known fondly as Baba, Dr. Khan will be remembered for his love of dry humor, unparalleled work ethic, generosity, and words of carefully crafted wisdom. He will be deeply missed, but remembered fondly.

Arrangements are under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains, NJ.
