I knew Terry only as a fishing guest at our remote Alaska fishing lodge. We grew close and often swapped stories, so we knew a bit about each other. Over the many summers he came to us he became one of our favorite guests. And could he fish! Every day he would be on the leader board for the largest fish of one species or another – but he was never present to accept his award. He was very disciplined, and he religiously kept to his east coast time zone schedule, so he was always asleep while we were having dinner and presenting the “Biggest Fish of the Day” awards.
And he never took fish home! “Keep it for the staff to add to their take-home fish” he would always say. That was unheard of and endeared him to all of the staff.
Terry will be missed in Alaska. I in particular will miss him and his bi-weekly emails regarding anything he thought would be of interest to me, our business or the industry.
He was a gentleman and a gentle man. The world could use more Terrys
