Morris Plains - Raymond J.(Ray) Schuyler, 84, of Morris Plains, NJ passed away peacefully on January 11, 2021 at Morristown Medical Center.
Ray was born in Bayonne, NJ to John and Helen Chludzinski on January 23, 1936. He was the youngest of 8 children.
He attended Bayonne High School and was a graduate of St. Peter’s College where he earned a degree in Marketing. After graduation he spent two years in the army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he received his basic training as an artillery specialist. He served in the National Guard for six years afterwards.
In 1959, he joined Distributor’s Group in New York City. While there, he earned his certification as a chartered financial analyst. During his work experience through the years, he became a very well known and respected analyst in the financial world. He retired in1998 after 25 years of service from Orion Capital where he was Vice President of Investments and Chief Investment Officer.
As a young man, he enjoyed fishing with his friend, Martin Miller. Later, he took up woodworking and became an accomplished self taught cabinetmaker, creating many pieces of heirloom quality furniture. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, sailing, and reading. He loved the beach and enjoyed visits to Spring Lake at the Jersey shore and Chatham, Cape Cod.
He especially valued time spent with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Ondreyicka) to whom he was married for 60 wonderful years, three children daughter Cynthia Leavesley (Ian) of Eliot, Maine, Peter Schuyler of Chepachet, Rhode Island, and Jonathan Schuyler (Ray Mach) of Dallas, Texas and four grandchildren Sarah and Felicia Leavesley, Mathew and Abigail Schuyler. Also, a brother, John Chludzinski (Barbara) of East Brunswick, NJ. As one of eight children, he also had many nieces and nephews as well whom he enjoyed spending time with.
