Obituary of Merrill V. Hennion
Morris Township - Merrill “Moe” Hennion passed away peacefully at age 73 on Sunday, March 25, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Moe grew up in Morristown, New Jersey, where he graduated from Morristown High School and later began his career. He married Carol (Huth) Hennion in 1979, and together they built a happy home and family in Morris Township.
Moe worked in computer operations at various banks, including Iron Bank, TCS, and Hudson City Savings Bank. He retired from Hudson City Savings Bank in 2006 after more than 25 years of dedicated service.
He loved chess, game shows, and solving logic puzzles. An avid biker and runner, Moe also enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, and building and flying model airplanes and rockets.
Predeceased by his brother, Peter; father, Merrill; and mother, Dorothy (Murray) Hennion. He was the beloved husband of Carol Hennion for 38 years and is survived by two sons, Robert and Daniel.
Loving brother to four sisters: Laurie Hennion, Leslie Charron (John), Barbara Gray (John), and Stephanie Pierce (Michael). Uncle of 10 nieces and nephews. He was a man of compassion, patience, generosity, and conviction who will be warmly remembered and deeply missed.
The family extends its sincere gratitude to all the medical professionals who cared for him at Morristown Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are by Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, NJ 07950. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Wednesday, March 28 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial at Holy Rood Cemetery, 61 Whippany Rd., Morris Township, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or your favorite charity.
