Obituary of William F. Denney
William Francis Denney, age 101, formerly of West Orange, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 in Greensburg, PA. He was born on August 15, 1916, in Orange, NJ, the youngest son of the late Daniel and Matilda Denney. He retired after 32 years as a printer and ultimately as production manager at the Newark News. He was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church in West Orange and a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was an Army veteran of WWII in the First Engineers Special Brigade, serving as a staff sergeant and having made the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Italy and landing on Utah Beach in Normandy on D-Day. He received the Bronze Star for his service. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Lorene (Rutledge) Denney; and brothers Daniel and James Denney. His sister, Helen Denney Knight of Lancaster, PA passed away two days after Mr. Denney’s death. He is survived by his children William F. (Maggie) Denney, Jr. of North Huntingdon, PA and Robert D. (Kathleen) Denney of Parsippany; grandchildren Lauren and Collin Denney. A funeral service will take place at Dangler Funeral Home in Morris Plains on Friday, March 30 at 9 a.m. with blessing and interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
