 Alice Wilson Trowbridge

June 28, 1936 – May 17, 2018

Alice (Alie) Wilson Trowbridge, 81, of Madison, NJ, passed away from multiple myeloma on May 17, 2018 surrounded by her immediate family.

Alie was born in New York City to Margaret and Sturgis Wilson on June 28, 1936. She graduated from Kent Place School in Summit, NJ and went on to earn a B.A. in Education from Smith College in 1958. While at Smith College, she met her future husband, Ted Trowbridge, and they were married in June 1960. She taught elementary school for 3 years before becoming a full-time wife and then mother.

While her top priority was always her family, she was also an avid tennis player and gardener. She was an active volunteer in her girls’ schools, as a Girl Scout leader, in AAUW, in Thursday Morning Club, and in the Madison Presbyterian Church.

From childhood on, she enjoyed special times at the family vacation home in the Poconos, passing her love of the outdoors on to her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her warm heart, her overflowing generosity, and her delicious chocolate crinkles.

Alie is survived by her beloved husband of almost 58 years, Ted Trowbridge; her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Bob Wunder, of Newark, DE; her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Robert Wisnewski, of Bristow, VA; and 4 grandchildren: Tommy and Kevin Wunder, and Sean and Becky Wisnewski. She is also survived by her brother, Dave Wilson, his wife, Mart, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Peggy, and her brother-in-law, Mo.

A memorial service will be held at the Madison Presbyterian Church, 19 Green Avenue, Madison, NJ on Saturday, May 26 at 1:00pm. A reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Wilson Museum, P.O. Box 196, 120 Perkins Street, Castine, ME 04421, (founded by Alie’s grandfather) or Overlook Hospital Foundation, 36 Upper Overlook Road, P.O. Box 220, Summit, NJ, 07902-0220, overlookfoundation.org.
