Obituary of Ernest P Santangelo, Sr.

Ernest P. “Chic” Santangelo, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Cedar Knolls, NJ, on March 18, 2019. He was born in Dover, NJ, and lived in Morristown for 32 years prior to his move to Cedar Knolls.

Chic graduated from Morristown High School. He worked as an Expeditor for Aircraft Radio Corp., Boonton, NJ, for 30 years until his retirement in 2006. He worked part time for many years at Atlantic Health System as a Materials Rep. He was a member of Notre Dame of Mount Carmel Church, Cedar Knolls, and the Morristown Columbian Club and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Chic is survived by his loving son, Ernest P. Santangelo, Jr and his wife, Sheryl, and his cherished grandchildren, Amber Mazza and her husband, Vincent, Nicholas Santangelo, Peter Elia, Joanna Elia as well as great-grandchildren, Dominic Santangelo, Sophia Mazza and Harper Elia. He is also survived by his nephew, Peter Elia, and his wife Marianne, and his niece, Lorraine Kebabdjian and her husband, George. Chic and his wife, Margaret, took care of both Peter and Lorraine from their early childhood. Chic is also survived by many extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Margaret Santangelo, in 2008.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, March 24, 2019, from 2-6 pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, NJ 07950. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 25, 2019, at 10:00 am at Notre Dame of Mount Carmel Church, Cedar Knolls. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Chic’s memory to the American Heart Association (heart.org) or the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
