Obituary of Ernest Emil Lertola

Ernest Emil Lertola, 90, passed away on March 27, 2019 at Hunterdon Medical Center.   

Born in New York City, Ernest resided in Morristown before moving to Clinton Township 13 years ago.

Ernest graduated from Pace University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Corporal.

Ernest worked as a Banking Systems Analyst for Morris County Savings Bank, Morristown, before he retired in 1993.

Ernest was also a parishioner of St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Morristown. In his spare time, he volunteered on the Morristown Board of Adjustment, Planning Board, and Parking Authority.

Ernest is survived by his devoted children, son Joe (and his wife, JoAnna Mendl-Shaw) from New York City;  son Ernest (and his wife, Nancy) from Clemmons, NC; son John (and his wife, Wendy) from Lebanon, NJ; daughter MaryAnne Borer (and her partner, Michael Heon) from High Bridge, NJ; son Jim (and his wife, Carol) from Avondale, PA; daughter Patty (and her husband, Craig) from Rockaway, NJ; and son Tom (and his wife, Danielle) from Long Valley, NJ. He is also survived by his beloved sister-in-law, Selma Lertola; his cherished grandchildren, Isaac Lertola, Katy Lertola, Natalie Lertola, Ben Lertola (and his wife, Kristin), David Lertola (and his wife, Katrina), Danielle Muich (and her husband, Kevin), Madison Lertola,  Kris Borer (and his wife Jana), Timothy Borer, Robert Borer (and his wife, Jessie), Annie Lertola, Matthew Lertola, Andrew Lishawa, Sean Lishawa, Samantha Lishawa, Nick Lertola, Ian Lertola, and Neil Lertola; and his adored great-grandchildren: Ryker Borer and Sophie Lertola. Ernest was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary (2004), and his brother, William.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 8:30-10:30am at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. A Funeral Mass for Ernest will follow at 11:00am at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 6 Sussex Avenue, Morristown. Entombment will be at Holy Rood Mausoleum, Morristown.
