Obituary of Stephen Sean O'Neill

Stephen “Steve” Sean O’Neill, 44, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle.

Born in Maryland, Steve enjoyed his childhood in Sparta before moving to Mickelton, NJ.  Steve graduated from Sparta High School in 1991, and earned his B.S. degree in Biology from Loyola College of Maryland in 1995, and his MA degree in Microbiology and Genetics from Rutgers University in 1999.

Steve has spent the last six years in Morris Plains, where he was an active member of the community, serving as a board member to several of the town’s recreation programs. He was also a parishioner of St. Virgil’s Church, Morris Plains.

Steve is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Katie (Farrell) O’Neill, and his adored children, Aidan and Keiran. He is also survived by his beloved parents, Michael and Sheila O’Neill, of North Carolina; and his dear siblings, Timothy O’Neill and his wife, Cathy, Meghan Holmes, and her husband, Mike, and Brigid Striffler, and her husband, Matt; as well as his four nieces and six nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 4-7pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. A Memorial Mass for Steve will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Virgil’s Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Interment will be private.
