Obituary of Sherwood Stevens

Sherwood C. Stevens, Jr., 75, of Morristown, passed away on December 9, 2015 at Morristown Medical Center. Sherwood was a life-long resident of Morristown. He graduated from Morristown High School. Sherwood worked as a Grease Plant Supervisor for Chemtura Corporation for 50 years, until he retired in 2012. He was also an active member of St. Virgil’s Church in Morris Plains. Sherwood was an avid fisherman and hunter, who enjoyed spending this time with his son and grandsons. He also appreciated a good book. Sherwood is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Stevens; and his devoted children, Donna Smolko, and her husband, Richard, and Sherwood C. Stevens, III, and his wife, Lynn. He is also survived by his beloved brothers, Edward Stevens and Robert Stevens; and his cherished grandchildren, Sherwood Stevens IV, Tyler Stevens, and Jeremy Stevens; as well as many adored nieces and nephews. Sherwood was predeceased by his dear sister, Carol Russo. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 3-6pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. A Funeral Mass for Sherwood will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Virgil’s Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of Sherwood can be made to: St. Virgil’s Church, or the Interfaith Food Pantry.
