Obituary of Harry C Tovani

Harry Claude Tovani, 96, formerly of Union, NJ, more recently of Bushkill, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2015. Harry was born in North Adams, Massachusetts, on November 11, 1919. He attended school in Massachusetts. Harry was a WWII veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 79th division, better known as “The Cross Lorraine”, in Central Europe. Harry worked as a Crane Operator for the Teamsters Local #408 out of Union, NJ, before he retired. Harry was an active member of both St. Anne’s Church in DeBary, Florida, and St. John’s Church in Bushkill, Pennsylvania. In his spare time, Harry enjoyed gardening, and walking. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Grace Amelio; his devoted daughter, Rosemary Vanora and her husband, Joseph, of Martinsville, NJ; and his three cherished grandchildren, Samuel, Bethany, and David, all of New Jersey. He is also survived by his sister, Mildred Roberts, of New York; his brother-in-law, Carmen Amelio and his wife, Helen, of Mendham, NJ; brother-in-law, Anthony Amelio and his wife, Cathy, of Randolph, NJ; as well as many adored nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by his three brothers and three sisters. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. A Funeral Mass for Harry will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Virgil’s Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of Harry can be made to: A Local Hospice or the Veteran’s Association.
