Obituary of Ruth H Hammann

Ruth H. Hammann, 98 years of age, of Madison,NJ, passed away on February 10, 2016 at her home. She was born in San Jose, Illinois and lived in Madison, NJ for 72 years.
Ruth graduated from Independence Kansas High School and graduated Phi Theta Kappa from Independence Junior College in 1937.
Ruth was an active member of the Thursday Morning Club, Madison,NJ, as well as the NJ State Federation of Women’s Clubs, and the Morris County Girl Scout Council. She was on the board of the Madison Senior Center and was actively involved in Ecumenism for St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison, NJ.
Ruth represented the Madison Senior Center on the Mayor’s Advisory Council. While on the Mothers Guild at St. Vincent Martyr School, Madison, NJ she helped established the library.
Ruth is survived by her loving daughters, Margaret H. Way and her husband, James and Susan H. Tackaberry, and her husband, William, as well as her grandchildren, Christopher Way and his wife, Jennifer, Matthew Way, William Tackaberry, Jr, and Jennifer Tackaberry and her great-granddaughters, Kolby and Kennedy.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul L. Hammann in 1988 and her parents, Earnest and Eva Helman and her sister, Margaret Goheen.
Friends and relatives are invited to gather at Burroughs, Kohr & Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, NJ on Friday, February 12, 2016, from 4-8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison, NJ. Interment will be at St. Vincent Cemetery, Noe & Shunpike Ave., Madison, NJ 07940.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Thursday Morning Club, PO Box 345, 25 Cook Ave., Madison, NJ 07940 or the Madison Public Library, 39 Keep St., Madison, NJ 07940.
