Obituary of Geraldine St. John

York, Maine-Geraldine St. John, 85, passed away April 20, 2016 after a period of declining health. She was born August 13, 1930 in Boston, MA, the youngest child of Joseph and Elizabeth (Mathers) Holleran. She graduated from Roslindale High school and went on to nursing school at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital graduating in 1951. She worked as a nurse for 45 years, a career which she found very rewarding. After graduating, she lived in San Francisco for a few years with her sister, Betty Anne, enjoying the single life. In 1956 she joined the Air Force and served for two years as a First Lieutenant. While in the service she met Gerard J. St. John and they married in May of 1958. The family lived in several places along the east coast before settling in York, Maine in 1971. Gerry worked at York Hospital for 25 years, taking care of many friends and neighbors. She leaves behind four children, Maureen St. John-Breen of Randolph, NJ, Colin St. John of Waltham, MA., Sheila St. John of Los Angeles, CA and Noel St. John of York, ME. She also leaves behind her son-in-law Christopher Breen and granddaughter Emma Elizabeth Breen, her sister, Patricia Denn, her brother, Joseph Edward Holleran and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gerard, her sister Betty Anne McIntosh and her brother David Holleran. A time of gathering for family and friends will be held from 11am to 1pm on Friday, April 29th in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine. Interment will be held at 1pm on Saturday, April 30th in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth, MA.
