Obituary of Ova Reed Pence

Ova Reed Pence, 92, of Livingston, NJ passed away on May 8, 2016 after a short illness. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. Visitations will be held on Sunday, May 15 from 4 -8 pm at the Dangler Funeral Home. Burial will follow the Funeral at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Dangler Funeral Home. Reed was born on July 11 1923 in Vancleve, Kentucky, grew up in Ohio but lived in New Jersey most of his life , of which 60 years were in Livingston. He is survived by a son, Ron Pence and his wife, Diane, of Davie, FL; a daughter, Carol Prewitt of Hazlet, NJ; a son, Gary Pence and his wife, Anna, of Bridgewater, NJ; a daughter, Cheryl Satarino and her husband, Tom, of Carmel, IN; a son, Greg Pence, and his longtime companion, Delia Lombardo, of Morris Plains, NJ; and a daughter, Darlene Pence and her husband Alex DeDominicis of Wilmington, DE. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Reed was a loving husband, father and World War II Veteran, who always enjoyed listening to his country music, humming the tunes and playing his harmonica. Reed enjoyed the simple pleasures in life including visiting his family in Ohio. He liked his trips to the casinos with his wife and did his best to beat the machines out of money. He was a huge sports fan and was loyal to his Ohio teams. He was extremely handy with home and auto repairs and was always eager to assist all family and friends when called upon for help. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
