Jim was an Insurance Activist and Entrepreneur in Morristown. He began his successfulcareer as a Fieldman for Royal Insurance Group – Morris/Sussex territory. He went on to become a manager for Fred A. Barbanes Agency. One of his greatest accomplishments was when he established James A. Connors Associates in 1972, with offices in Morristown, Edison and Hunterdon County.
Jim also served as President of Independent Insurance Agents of New Jersey in 1984. He received the Legislative Chairman of the Year Award for IIANJ. He was also a member of the Florham Park Volunteer Fire Dept.; was Chairman of the Florham Park Board of Adjustment for 13 years; and coached the Midget Football Florham Park Falcons for five years. Jim was also a member of Lamington Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and a Deacon.
Jim is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 62 years, Marlene Rich Connors; and his devoted children, Robin Curry (Stephen); Susan Callender (Robert); and James Connors, Jr. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Brad Curry, Drew Curry, Tim Curry, James Connors III, and Lauren Connors. He was predeceased by his son, Tommy; and his brother, Robert Shannon.
In his spare time, Jim enjoyed to travel the world with Marlene; visiting five continents and over 40 countries. He was an avid reader of both fiction and nonfiction. He also enjoyed being season ticket holder for Big East basketball. He especially loved all of the golden retrievers in the family over the years: Sam, Maggie, Abby, Molly, Ginger, and Honey.
