Obituary of James R. Heaney, ESQ.

James R. Heaney, Esq. of Harding, NJ and Dorset, VT passed away from pancreatic cancer on October 4, 2016. He was born in 1932 in Harrison, NJ and resided for many years in Madison, NJ. Jim served in the US Army from 1953-1955 and attended St. Benedict’s Prep, St. Peter’s College and Fordham Law School. Among other accomplishments, he was Assistant Counsel to NJ Governor William Cahill and Standing Master of the NJ Supreme Court. He was also a Certified Civil Trial Attorney and practiced law in Morris County. Jim was predeceased by his daughter Sharon and is survived by his wife of 58 years Anne (O’Grady) Heaney, daughters Anne Herzog (Joseph Herzog) and Cynthia Heaney (Bernard Lambert) and grandchildren Amanda, Peter and Eamon Bolton, Nicole Herzog and Caragh and Caitriona Lambert. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, NJ 07940. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 7, 2016, at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church, 16 Blue Mill Road, New Vernon. Interment will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery, Noe Ave. and Shunpike Road, Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to St. Peter’s University (formerly College), 2641 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306.
