Obituary of Gloria Y. Kaye

GLORIA Y. KAYE Loving Mother of Five Children Gloria Y. Kaye (nee DeFronzo), 92, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2016. Born and raised in Newark, Gloria resided most of her life in Woodbridge Twp. where she raised her family. Gloria was the proud mother of five children: Gregory, Judy, Jeffrey, Valerie & Sherrie. Gloria enjoyed working & keeping active and was proud of earning her college degree after her children were grown. She became a trailblazer as one of the early pioneers of women working in a managerial position, serving as Personnel Manager for S.S. White Industrial in Piscataway for many years until her retirement. After retirement she continued to work as a Counselor in a pregnancy center, then as an Assistant Aide at the YMCA day care. She also taught CCD at Our Lady of Peace in Fords. Aside from her work & family, Gloria enjoyed the gift of many friends. She loved to keep active and was a great ‘organizer’, never hesitating to get a group together to enjoy social activities or just to chat. She was a great listener, passionate about helping others & always willing to lend a hand. She had a great love of music & dance. Gloria was also very active in the church, serving in the St. Cecelia’s church choir for many years, as well as participating in local and civic activities. Gloria is preceded in death by her beloved parents Basileo & Gussie DeFronzo, her sisters Rosamond and Martha, brother Henry and her eldest son Gregory. In addition to her children & their spouses: Susan, Gene, Debi & Chuck, Gloria is survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her and the many whose lives she touched. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Virgil’s Church in Morris Plains on November 9th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
