Obituary of Yueh Sien Tu

Yueh Sien Tu, 93, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at the Chatham Hills Subacute Care Center. Born Feb. 5, 1923, in Shanghai, China, she moved to Hong Kong in her twenties and had lived in New Jersey for the past 30 years. She was an accomplished concert pianist and a renowned piano teacher. Many of her students went on to Julliard, The Eastman School of Music, Curtis Institute, etc. with many flourishing into famous musicians. She will be missed by many and her wishes were that others would continue her work. She was the wife of the late Beng Kheang Chew; devoted mother of Maurice Chew and his wife, Jacqueline Olson; Lincoln Chew and his wife, Amy; Moya Chew-Lai and her husband, Francis Lai; cherished grandmother of Christopher, Nathan and Jeremy Chew; and Emmie and Patrick Lai. Yueh Sien leaves behind many other loving and caring family members, students and friends. A memorial service in her honor will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 1:30 p.m. at the Monmouth Chinese Christian Church, 189 Holland Road, Middletown, NJ 07748.
