Obituary of Kathleen Rita Danus

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dedicated Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, Kathleen (Kitty) Rita Danus, 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family in East Hanover, New Jersey the town she lived in for 41 years.  She was the beloved wife of John Danus.  They shared 55 years of blessed marriage.

Born in Lakewood, Ohio in 1939 to Thomas and Bridget Vesey who raised Kitty, and her sisters Anna Mae and Eileen, and brother Thomas. Kitty ventured out West to California in 1961 to begin her job as a secretary for the FBI.  It was there that she met John whom she married on August 24, 1963.  In January of 1964, they transferred to Philadelphia and then moved to NJ in 1966 where they raised their four children.

For most of her life, Kitty was a homemaker, happily tending to her children, whether it be baking them cupcakes for school events, helping with their school projects, or being the biggest cheerleader in the stands at their sporting events. She also had the opportunity to travel on many European excursions with John which she thoroughly enjoyed.  Once the kids were in high school, Kitty became a working mom, taking on accounts payable positions at several companies.  She enjoyed meeting new people and had a knack for forming long-lasting relationships.  Although she was tremendously proud of her children, her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart.  Whether it was playing board games, singing songs, watching movies on her bed, doing puzzles, playing Rummikub, or just talking to them, she would always go out of her way to make them happy and feel loved.

Kitty is survived by her husband, John, and her four children and their spouses: John and Shawn, Jim and Tracey, Kelly and Mike Kinnavy, and Jeff and Michele.  She was the doting grandmother of 13: Jessica, Conor, Michael, Nolan, Josh, Joseph, Jake, Quinn, Katie, John, Taylor, Tommy, and Logan.  Also surviving Kitty are her two sisters, Anna Mae and Eileen, and her brother, Thomas, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 4th at 11am at Holy Family Church, 1 Lloyd Avenue, Florham Park, N.J. 07932.  The family will receive family and friends beginning at 10:00am.

The memorial service will begin promptly at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kitty’s memory can be made online to The Cheshire Home, Inc., (www.cheshirehome.org).
