Obituary of Ruth K. Shump

Ruth K. Shump, 97, of Florham Park, NJ, passed away in Burlington, NJ on June 20, 2019.

Born in Newark, daughter of the late Fred Kirsch, Sr. and Agnes Kinney Kirsch, Ruth lived in Florham Park, where she resided for 64 years. Ruth graduated from Verona High School in 1940. Before her retirement in 2005, Ruth worked at Loehmann's in East Hanover as a Sales Clerk.

Ruth was a parishioner of Holy Family Church in Florham Park and was a member of the Rosary Society there.

Ruth is survived by her devoted children, Jo Anne (William) Kirk of Burlington, NJ, Nancy Shump of Santa Fe, NM, Carol (Neil) Crescenti of Lebanon Township, NJ, Donald (Linda) Shump of Media, PA, Patricia Shump of Franklin Park, NJ, Eileen (John) Stamateris of Poland, OH, Diane (Gavin) Cerco of South Abington Township, PA, Lorraine Shump of Florham Park, NJ and Mary (Larry) Tanedo of Browns Mills, NJ. She is also survived by her adoring 22 grandchildren, 19 cherished great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Dorothy Wray of Centerville, Ohio,  and many beloved nieces and nephews. Ruth is predeceased by her loving husband, John W. Shump (1962), her beloved son, John G. Shump, and her brothers Fred Kirsch and Robert Kirsch.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 10-11 am at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. A Funeral Mass for Ruth will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 11:30 am at Holy Family Church, 1 Lloyd Avenue, Florham Park. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
