Obituary of Patricia D. Hiserodt
Patricia Dwyer Hiserodt, 92, of Denville, NJ passed away July, 11, 2019. She is survived by her children Richard, John, Thomas, Gregory, Kathleen, Nancy, Susan, David and Stephen and 12 grandchildren. Pat was born Patricia Ann Dwyer to John and Louise Dwyer on March 17, 1927.
Pat met her husband Dick (deceased, July, 18, 2011) while in high school. After she attended Creighton University, they married on September 4, 1947 and moved to Syracuse, NY where they began their family. It was during this time, as her family was growing, that she and Dick began visiting the 1000 Islands in the St. Lawrence River in Clayton, NY.
In 1966, Pat and Dick moved to Morristown, NJ. Her family required a little less of her attention and so she became an avid reader of anything Irish. She learned to golf and she & Dick frequented the links up and down the East Coast. Her favorite, though, was the small course in Clayton, NY where they bought a cottage overlooking the St. Lawrence River. Here they would spend their summers with family & friends either gazing contentedly out at the river or tooling around the islands on their houseboat.
Other times she loved to watch Creighton basketball especially when they made it to the NCAA playoffs. She also volunteered at Morristown Memorial Hospital where she developed a network of friends that supported her after the death of Dick.
She was a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Convent Station, NJ & St. Mary’s Parish in Clayton, NY.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 10-11 am at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. A Funeral Mass for Pat will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 11:30 am at St. Thomas More, 4 Convent Road, Morristown. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown. Pat’s preference is for everyone to be dressed in bright colors; it lightens the moodshe liked to say. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Pat's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, or online at www.stjude.org
