Obituary of Charles A. Gregory
Charles "Charlie" A. Gregory passed away peacefully in his sleep September 9th 2019.
Mr. Gregory was born November 4th 1924 in Morristown, New Jersey to Francis and Mary Gregory. He grew up in Millington and loved to play stickball and baseball with his brothers, sister, and friends.
As a child, Charlie attended Catholic services with his family on Sundays. Mr. Gregory was a devout Catholic throughout his years of life. He grew up to be Vice President of his graduating class in 1942 at Morristown High School. Then, he went on to join the armed forces as a member of the United States Army of the European Theater in World War II. After which, he came home to raise a family with his faithful wife of 67 years.
Mr. Gregory supported his family as a hardworking and proud salesman. He held family and togetherness as a high standard for the people surrounding him. Mr. Gregory was also a proud Irishman and participated in the Morristown St. Patrick’s Day Parade in all his green and shamrocks.
Mr. Gregory was constantly teaching his children how to love and show compassion through his many lessons. He had a passion for showing them life; taking them ice skating, building giant castles in the sand, and teaching each child how to swim on their many summer trips to the shore house.
Mr. Gregory was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; VFW post 3401. Mr. Gregory never lost his sense of humor, and always told a story or sang an Irish tune after just one warm beer.
He lives on through his wife Shirley B. Gregory, and his children; Kathleen Gregory of Belleville, NJ, David Gregory of Whiting, NJ, Robert Gregory of Appomattox, VA, Thomas Gregory of Morris Plains, NJ, Charles Gregory Jr. of Lanexa, VA, and Nancy Gregory Schulze of Saylorsburg, PA. Preceded in death by his brothers; Francis Gregory, Thomas Gregory, Joseph Gregory, and sister; Julia Gregory Appollo. Mr. Gregory also lives on through his beautiful grandchildren; Jenny Gregory, Melissa Gregory, Angie Cloninger, Megan Hardy, Jesse Gregory, Katelyn Schulze, John Gregory, Joseph Gregory, and Kevin Schulze Jr.
The viewing will be at Dangler Funeral Home in Morris Plains on Friday September 13th from 4:00- 7:00pm. The service will follow beginning at 7:00pm. The Interment will be the next day at Evergreen Cemetery in Morristown at 10:30am.
