Not many people could live up to the example Bill Sullivan set throughout his life. If giving of oneself dictates a happy afterlife, we know that Bill is a very happy soul.
As a high school teenager in the sixties, I attended weekend dances at St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute in Buffalo, New York. The dances provided a great safe, social outlet for many teens in the metropolitan area and I was happy to frequent them. Later in life, I learned from a graduate of St. Joe's that Bill (Brother Adrian) started the dances to raise money to fund the implementation of a student counseling center at St. Joe's. Bill was told by the head brother that if he wanted to start a student counseling center, he would have to raise the money to fund it. Not only were the dances so financially successful that the counseling center was funded; but also, the head brother informed Brother Adrian (Bill) that he could keep only half of the proceeds from the dances. The other half of the proceeds would be used to help fund student tuition.
This early indication of Bill's commitment to youth was evident throughout his career. As a colleague in the school administration field, I observed Bill as a dedicated and successful leader in both New York State and in international school associations where he always championed opportunities for all students.
Bill's impact on friends and family has been profound. Bill's influence on the youth he taught, guided and for whom he advocated will live on well after his passing.

Although i knew Bill as a Christian Brother, I grew up with his devoted wife Colleen. Their joy together was the epitome of a meaningful marriage and union of spirits. Their passings, so close in time, unite them for eternity according to the beliefs Christians hold. May their examples inspire those who knew and loved them dearly.
