Obituary of Michael Lee Hecht

Michael Lee Hecht, 76, of Wharton, NJ, previously of Smithtown, NY, passed away November 29, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center.

Born in Brooklyn, Michael lived in Smithtown, NY for 40 years before moving to Wharton, NJ, where he has resided for the past 3.5 years.

Michael was Self-Employed in the Auto Parts Industry throughout Long Island and was an exceptional business man. Michael proudly served in the United States Army from 1961-1963.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Gale Hecht, devoted children, Lindsay Lafferman and her husband, Chris, of East Hanover, NJ and Jason Hecht and his wife, Michelle McCoy, of Asheville, NC, and his adoring grandchildren, Ozzy, Ryder and Jordan. Michael is also survived by his caring brother-in-law, Ronald Pere, and wife, Bernice, beloved nieces and nephews, Joy Nearpass and her husband, David, Glenn Pere and his wife, Marci, David Pere and his wife, Julie and Kerri Dalessio and her husband, Noah, and his cherished dog, Maggie. Michael is predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Edna Hecht, and sister, Barbara Pere.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 10:30 am at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Interment will follow at Mount Freedom Hebrew Cemetery, Randolph.
