Obituary of Frances E. Weidman

Frances E. (O’Rourke) Weidman, 93, of New Vernon, NJ, passed away on January 19, 2017. Born in Elizabeth, Frances resided in Hillside before moving to New Vernon 40 years ago. Frances earned both her B.A. degree and M.A. degree from Seton Hall University. She worked as a School Teacher/Acting Principal at School 14 in Elizabeth for 43 years, where she was awarded “Teacher of the Year” distinction. Frances was a parishioner of Christ the King Church in New Vernon, and a member of Spring Brook Country Club. Frances also loved dogs, and spending time fishing and boating. Frances is survived by her loving husband and companion of 30 years, Stanley Melillo. She is predeceased by her first husband, Henry Weidman; and her parents, Francis and Elizabeth (Smith) O’Rourke. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Monday, January 23, 2017 from 10:00-10:30am at Christ the King Church, 16 Blue Mill Road, New Vernon, NJ. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am at the Church. Interment will follow at New Vernon Cemetery, New Vernon, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in memory of Frances may be made to: New Vernon Volunteer Fire & First Aid Squad, 22 Village Road, New Vernon, NJ 07976.
