Obituary of Thomas E. Hiler

Thomas E. “Tom” Hiler, 76, of Madison, formerly of Morris Plains, passed away on December 31, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center. Born in Boonton, Tom resided in Morris Plains for most of his life until he moved to Madison eleven years ago. Tom graduated from Morristown High School in 1961. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1964-1970 when he was honorably discharged. Tom worked as a Postal Worker for the Morris Plains Post Office for 37 years until he retired in March of 2004. He had worked for International Paper Company for approximately 6 years prior to his long tenure at the Post Office. Tom is survived by his loving and devoted daughter, Maureen Rindgen and her husband, Robert Rindgen, of Hillsborough, N.J.; and his dear sisters, Marilyn Bendel of Morristown, N.J., and Kathleen Fitzgerald of Mt. Arlington, N.J. He is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephews, Christine Bendel, Robert Bendel, Kevin Bendel, Deanne Esposito, and George Fitzgerald. He is also pre-deceased by his loving parents, Harry Hiler and Madalene Hiler (Zeh), and his brother-in-laws, Robert Bendel Sr. and Thomas Fitzgerald. Visitation will be on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 5-8:00pm, with a Memorial Prayer Service at 7:30pm, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association in Tom’s name.
