Gary was my brother, Steve Corley's, fraternity brother and best friend. He lived with our family for a few college summers in order to be closer to work. He was a dear friend and second older brother to me. My parents loved Gary and his family--our families were very connected. Years passed, but he helped me out in a big way on very short notice a few years ago when I did something stupid while grieving my mother's impending death. He admonished me for my bad behavior and consoled me for the loss of my mother who he loved also. He was such an amazing friend and loved his wife and family dearly. Always loyal. A rare human being.

My mom died six years ago. Her estate was complicated. Gary was working on it, but was suddenly hospitalized with heart problems.
From his bed, Gary referred me to an elder care legal specialist. This man proved to be utterly incompetent.
There was a narrow deadline. Failure to meet it would be costly. As soon as he learned of this, still recuperating, Gary retrieved the case and resolved it with one hour to spare. And, characteristically, he minimized his efforts and resisted payment. The few people in the world like Gary Platt keep the world spinning on its axis.

I worked for Gary back in the early 90's. He taught me all I know about real estate. I saw his children go from grammar school, high school, and then we reconnected again in the early 2000's and I once again caught up and now his children had children. He was so very very proud of his children and his grandchildren. He was a wonderful, wonderful man and will be greatly missed. I will always keep the memories of what a great man, husband and father and grandfather he was and most importantly what a great friend he was. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't know all I do. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed. To Leslie, Josh, Mark and Rachel my thoughts are with you at this most difficult time.

Gary and I grew up in Elizabeth, NJ, and went to school together. He was always kind, thoughtful and sweet. We re-connected several years ago on Facebook and had ‘chats’ online. His family was the center of his life and I ‘met’ them through our ‘ chats.’
I was in school with his cousin Maureen Schreiber Bernstein, but learned of her return to nursing at a small Junior High Reunion several years ago. I had not seen Gary or Maureen for almost 50 years. I looked forward to hearing from Gary. We shared our trials and tribulations, praying for both of our families. He was truly a mensch in every sense of the world. We never had a chance to meet with our spouses, as we had hoped.
I prayed for him daily, as I say a Misheberach for ailing family and friends. I shall miss him and just wish that we had re-connected sooner. His candle was not long enough. Condolences to his lovely wife, Leslie, and his children and grandchildren. A bright star shines in the Heavens, and it is Gary saying, ‘Hugs and Knishes.’ I miss you, my friend.

Gary was a classmate of mine at TJHS in Elizabeth, NJ. He was a wonderful back then and in my occasional meetings with him in the recent past he was the same. Outgoing, friendly and genuine. May he rest in peace. Blessing to his family. We lost a very good man.

Gary and I were first cousins- two of the 17 or 18? cousins from the Platt family ! We were 4 months apart and survived all the "crazy" Platt family gatherings growing up in Elizabeth. We also were in the same homeroom in junior high but were separated during high school because it was public non-coed high school ! I moved from New Jersey after nursing school and returned 20 years ago. When my husband and I moved back, Gary embraced us back into the family and we spent many very funny, happy holiday dinners and special occasions together. We decided he was the Patriarch and I the Matriarch in dealing with family business. Gary was so kind during my brother and then mother's illnesses and when my father died suddenly, he handled all the cemetery plans and arranged for his Rabbi to do the service. He loved family ancestry so much and did the family tree for years always trying to keep it updated. He was a mensch in every sense of the word and I shall miss him. He died on my mother Selma's birthday which was very fitting because he always said that she was "the glue that held the family together." Rest in peace my dear cousin and tell all the Platts I said hello. Love you, Maureen Schreiber Bernstein

Each & every Shabbat, Gary & I would meet before the service began, & we would just kibbutz. I looked forward to our lighthearted chats. When services would begin, Gary & I would sit, & pray side by side. At the Oneg, we would then have a "cookie toast". I was blessed to have the privilege of knowing my very good friend, Gary Platt. He is, unfortunately gone, but I will never forget Gary. May you rest in peace, my dear friend. To his family, I thank you for sharing him with me. Fondly, Chuck Schwartz
