Dear Mary, Mary Ellen, Helen, Bill, Danny and all the rest of your family,
I always considered you an extension of our family growing up. Al was an extraordinary gentleman. He was the perfect example of a father and businessman in the Madison community. He was so proud of all of you. He always included our family in all special events and parties. He always supported all of you in everything you did. On a personal note, I remember when I was teaching at MJS and directing the plays. Danny was playing Snoopy in "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" and Al was the most vocal and responsive audience member. This was his personality. He was a genuine caring and giving person. I remember as a small child when he and Mary started their life together two doors up Main Street from us. His kindness and goodness was conveyed to all his children's friends. I saw this personally in the way he treated my nieces and nephews - Betsy, Cathie and Mike. He was a good man and I send my deepest sympathies to all of you.

I have fond memories of stopping by the body shop and watching Al demonstrate his skills in auto body repair. Or stopping by 73 Greenwood Ave for dinner with the family. Al was just a great man to sit and watch sports with or just talk about life. I remember a few trips to ski shows at the Coliseum. Riding in the back of their green Vista Cruiser. Love this family. Will miss Al. Much love to the Beaman’s.

I was always moved by Mr. Beaman’s kind, generous and gentle nature, He and Mrs. Beaman always opened their doors to me and Danny’s other friends on the block, treating us like family. And if we needed work done on a car, there was never a question whom we’d go to for help; Mr. Beaman was one of the fairest businessmen and skilled craftsmen Madison has ever known. It was an honor to know you, Mr. Beaman. My deepest condolences to your entire family.

An older memory that always comes to mind is of my Dad and Uncle Al fixing the shop compressor on a Saturday morning, and giving Bobby and I a dollar to 'go away' while they had a beer and chatted.
However, the real memory is that after my Dad passed suddenly when I was a teen, Uncle Al never tried to be a stand-in father to me. He was comfortable being 'Uncle Al' and was always there when I needed/wanted him...and sometimes when I did not.
A very special man.
