Obituary of Edward J. Andre

Edward “Ed” J. Andre, 89, of Madison passed away on February 18, 2020. Born and raised in Rumson, Ed resided in Union City before moving to Madison 9 years ago. Ed graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in 1948. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Marines. Ed worked for Hackensack Water Company in Hackensack for 35 years until he retired in July 1992. Ed was a parishioner of St. Augustine’s Church in Union City and St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison. He was also a member the American Legion – Post 18 in Weehawken; Ed & Joe’s Fishing Club; and St. Augustine’s Holy Name Society. Ed is survived by his devoted children, Maureen Hoeflin and her husband, Andrew, of Madison, and John Andre and his wife, Kate, of Lake Hopatcong. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Courtney Brusoe and her husband, Michael, Jennifer Andre, Douglas Hoeflin; one great-grandchild, Logan Edward Brusoe; 19 nieces and nephews; as well as his brother-in-law, Don McDonald; and sister-in-law, Eileen O’Connell. Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Theresa (Allen) Andre, his siblings, Frank Andre, Irene McDonald, and his brother-in-law, Bill O’Connell. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 5-8pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Danger Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. A Funeral Mass for Ed will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 10:00am at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddlebrook.
