I worked for Stan at Macy's in the 1980s. He was my first and best boss ever. Demanding and focused on teaching, he taught me work was a ministry.

One of my favorite uncles, my Uncle Stan. He will be missed by many. He was truly an exceptional man who lived an extraordinary life. I will miss our conversations on academia, discussions on ethics, and his ability to challenge me to think outside of the box.

On February 22, the world lost one of the most intelligent people to exist. Uncle Stan, thank you for all of the laughs, guidance, advice, tips on running, and thought-provoking conversations. I will miss hearing your thoughts on the world, society, and, most importantly, politics. The political climate definitely will not be as entertaining without your commentary.
You will be missed by anyone and everyone who had the amazing opportunity of knowing you.

Stan was a man with a passion for knowledge and learning. He also was an exceptional teacher, any knowledge he had he would willingly share at any time. He also reveled in watching anyone he taught thrive as well,I remember when I spoke to Stan the first time and the subject of fly fishing came up. I told him I don’t know how and don’t have the patience for it, Stan’s response was “well I’ll teach you!”. I worked hard at it and would watch Stan effortlessly throw a line way out of my sight with ease, even went with Stan to a fly fishing show and I noticed that other anglers were doing the opposite of what Stan taught me. Stan would see that as a teaching moment explaining why they were “mistaken”.
I will never forget when Stan and I were in a river that he loved, Stan was about 100 yards away from me doin his thing happy as always. Suddenly I heard a snap in front of me and I knew I had a big fish, I saw a quick flash and knew it was my first rainbow trout on a fly. Stan saw me playing the fish and I heard him yell “you got one?!?!?”. I said “not only do I have one it’s a trout!!!!”. Stan hearing that picked up his pole and charged toward me in the river, not going to shore and running to me straight down the river. He was more excited than I was and wanted to be next to me when I landed my trophy, he was simply beaming. It was a small trout but you would have thought it was a world record as happy as he was for me.
Stan is a man who’s generosity knew no boundaries and his kindness will be greatly missed in this world

Stan was a man of great wisdom, experience and compassion. I first met Stan and Paula in tai chi class as they continued their life-long passion for learning. Stan's warmth, charm and sense of humor were enjoyed by all. He encouraged others in the class to pursue fly fishing, fly tying and in my case painting. Stan was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his lovely wife, Paula.
