Obituary of William G. Mancinelli
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William G. Mancinelli, 83, of Florham Park, NJ, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020, in Morristown following a long illness, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born in Irvington, NJ to Anna and Louis Mancinelli. He graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ. He served in the U.S. Army in an anti-aircraft missile battalion in Maine from 1956-58. He married Patricia in 1960, and they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.
He attended Newark College of Engineering and worked in the valve engineering department at Automatic Switch Company, in Florham Park, retiring after 37 years. Bill was an exacting mathematician by day, and a skilled carpenter in his spare time. He regularly took on home projects that most others would find daunting. With single-minded diligence and enthusiasm, he designed and built a home addition that encompassed two bedrooms, a bathroom and two-car garage. He completed this addition single-handedly, only enlisting help with pouring the foundation and having an electrician check his wiring. He was a passionate woodworker who enjoyed furniture design and fine carpentry. He was also an enthusiastic photographer.
Bill was a quiet man with a strong work ethic and good sense of humor. He led by example. He was a devoted husband and doting father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia, and his three daughters and their spouses, Susan and Robert; Karen and David; and Jennifer and Drew. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Katie and Matthew William; and his brother Louis. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, William A. Mancinelli.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 5-8 pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. A Funeral Mass for Bill will be celebrated on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 10 am at Holy Family Church, 1 Lloyd Avenue, Florham Park. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305, or online at https://www.apdaparkinson.org/
