Obituary of Peter A. Spetaccino

Peter A. Spetaccino, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Morristown, NJ on Sunday, Jan. 29. He was born May 30, 1927 in Elmira, NY to Peter Spetaccino and Melanina Cassetta. Peter and Celeste Robibero married at St Anthony's Church in Elmira, NY on December 29 1951, and together they raised their son Mark. Peter served this country during WWII as part of the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947. He went on to graduate and receive a bachelor's degree from St Bonaventure University in New York. Peter worked as a research Chemist at Allied Chemical (presently known as Honeywell) in Morristown for 30 years before retiring. As a 56-year-resident of Morristown, Peter was a devoted member of the St Margaret of Scotland Church, served as treasurer for the Knights of Columbus: George Washington Council 359 for over 30 years, and sat as a committee member of his son's Boy Scout troop 135. Peter is remembered as a kind and caring human being who would do anything he could to help another, and was often lovingly referred to as "Junie" or "Uncle Jun" by family members. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed an occasional trip the horse races. Peter is predeceased by parents: Peter and Melanina, siblings: Rose Bianco, Nicholas Spetaccino, and Mary Buzzetti, wife: Celeste Spetaccino, and nephew: Richard Buzzetti. He is survived by son Mark Spetaccino and his wife Lori, granddaughters: Melaninna Brower (husband Jon), and Miranda Spetaccino, great-grandson: Maverick Brower, and nieces/nephews: Dominic Bianco (wife Sally), Robert Buzzetti (wife MaryAnn), MaryLou Andrus (husband Steven), Peggy Buzzetti (wife of Richard), John Charles Buzzetti (wife Nancy) and Peter Buzzetti (wife Jodie). Viewing for friends and family will take place Thursday, Feb. 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dangler Funeral Home in Morris Plains, NJ. The funeral will take place on Friday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. at St Patrick's Church in Peter's hometown of Elmira, NY. Any donations may be directed to the American Foundation for the Blind.
