Robert Raymond Jacobsen, 94, of Morris Plains, NJ, passed away April 12, 2020 at Merry Heart Assisted Living in Succasunna, NJ. Robert was born and lived in Jersey City, NJ before residing in Toms River, NJ and finally Morris Plains. Before his retirement in 1978, Robert was a Jersey City Police Detective. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 during Word War II. Robert bowled for over 50 years as a member of multiple bowling leagues. He was a craftsman at making wood furniture in his spare time and took up golf around age 70. Even at the end, with advanced dementia, he had a great sense of humor. Robert is survived his loving children, Carol Pruett and husband, Craig, of Morris Township, NJ and Richard Jacobsen and wife, Deborah, of California. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Kristen & Bryan and Rebecca and Daniel. Robert is predeceased by his beloved wife, Frances Jacobsen (2014) and his cherished son, Robert T. Jacobsen (2019). A private burial will take place at Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River, NJ. We ask that you please keep Robert’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
