Obituary of Carlos M. Bledt

Carlos M. Bledt, 27, of Madison, NJ passed away peacefully in Providence, RI on January 25, 2017. He was born in Mexico City on November 13, 1989. Carlos was a fifth year PhD student in Electrical Engineering at Brown University. A driven student, Bledt competed to receive the esteemed three-year National Defense Science and Engineering Fellowship against 3,000 applicants and was ultimately selected in 2013. Carlos attended elementary school at Our Lady of Peace in New Providence, NJ, middle school in The American School of Paris and Madison High School in Madison, NJ, where he was a 2008 Honor Graduate and Presidential Award recipient. Thereafter he graduated Magna Cum Laude B.Sc. Materials Science and Engineering in 2012 from Rutgers University and obtained his M.Sc. Engineering from Brown University in 2015. He was also a member of the International Society of Optical Engineering. Carlos took pride in his laser and fiber optics researching and he also enjoyed visiting Mystic, CT and its Aquarium where he was a proud member. He is survived by his parents, Carlos and Marcela, his brother Gerardo, and his dog Sammy. Carlos’s caring personality, determination, and talents will be celebrated at a wake on Saturday, February 11th from 10 am to noon followed by a noon mass at St. Thomas More Church, Convent Station, NJ The burial of the cremains will be at 2 pm in St. Vincent Martyr Cemetery, Madison, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration would be appreciated.
