Doris and family, I am just reading of your husband Jim’s passing. I left Madison in 2004 and live in FL and get little news from anyone. I was surfing today and sadly found this news. My family was also part of the Madison Fire Department volunteers and I remember many wonderful memories at the picnics, dances and Christmas Parties for the kids we all enjoyed together. Jim did beautiful work at our home as well. He built the most incredible closet and installed a beautiful Pella Bay Window in my home on Niles. The quality of his work & his sweet Dad helping out too made the experience even better. Just wanted to reach out and tell you my memory of this gentlemen and the fun I recall we all had with MFD. Great Memories. God Bless you. Peachie

Heaven has gained an angel tonight. You were the greatest father I could ever imagine. You were an incredible “pop” to your “lights of your life.” I’m broken now knowing you’re not here on earth, but thankful you can watch over us in heaven. I love you daddy. May you Rest In Peace.

Jim,
I'm sorry that you felt so lost and alone for your last month. I prayed for you to get better because I wanted you to be able to come home to me. But God wanted you in His home more. I know that you are at peace now. Our life together was a great gift. Kris Kevin, and "the girls" have given me the strength to go on with life.
I will love you forever.
Till we meet again,
Your loving wife

Pop,
2 days ago, on June 1st you made your way up to heaven, 74 years of an amazing life with friends and family. You were such an outstanding and beautiful person. you always wanted the best for everyone and were so incredibly brave, strong, funny, thoughtful, and caring.
I still am struggling to put into words how exactly I’m feeling. I would have never expected nor wished for it to be so sudden, let alone thought it would happen this soon in life. I’m heartbroken that you're gone, but blessed you’re finally at peace free of all your pain. thank you for not only fighting for our country, but all the memories we’ve created, adventures we’ve gone on, and lessons you’ve given me these past 20 years. from teaching me how to be a lady, to shooting/fishing, listening to your road rage or you yelling at the tv, your singing to older country songs, your phone calls that would ironically happen during dinner every single night without a doubt, getting to go out for lunch/breakfast dates together, road trips to PA for flea markets, the crossings, and most importantly your favorite, Cabela’s. I’ll never be able to facetime you again, spend another holiday together, have my late-night visits with you & Mommom, be able to enjoy your famous sauce recipe, or hear your talks about being a Vietnam Veteran, or a carpenter. I will forever love you more than you know and it already feels so empty without you here. I cherish all the time I had with you and especially all the laughs, you were always one to be able to crack a joke with at just about any time. I’ll miss you forever pop, but till I see you again rip soldier. you will always be in my heart.
With love,
Your Dutchess

Dear Doris, Special love to you on the passing of Jim. So many memories of a fine man - parties at the fire house - sitting on my deck which Jim and his Dad built so many years ago - having the joy of knowing his dear Morgan in class at Harding - and just seeing him around town and being so glad to see each other. I hope any sadness will very soon be replaced by happy memories. With love, Barbara Liggett

I enjoyed many conversations with Jimmy at our sporting club - and he always asked about how my family and I were doing. He loved his family and spoke of them often. Rest in peace, Jimmy. Matthew <><
