Obituary of Celeste M. Alfano

Please share a memory of Celeste to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Celeste Alfano, 90, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2020. The daughter of Phillip and Julia DiAnni, Celeste was the youngest of three daughters. Celeste married Pat Alfano in 1949 and had two daughters. Sadly, Celeste was widowed at the age of 35. Celeste was honored to become a grandmother and in later years, a great-grandmother. She was a resident of Newark, Kearny and Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Celeste worked at Imperial Air Freight in Newark and the North American Watch Company in Secaucus before retiring at the age of 71. Celeste will be best remembered for her cooking and generosity. A member of Brookdale Baptist Church and Millington Baptist Church, Celeste lived her faith. Living at Ridge Oak Senior Housing, Celeste enjoyed the many activities and opportunities to become involved. Many bake sales included Celeste’s delicious home baked cookies and cakes, most often her signature cheesecake. In 2016, Celeste moved to the Holly Manor Center in Mendham where she became involved with others and activities – often decorating her room with her artwork. Celeste was predeceased by her husband Pat, her daughter Patti and her sister Vera. She leaves behind her loving daughter Judi (Cheryl), son-in law Rob, two grandchildren - Brandon (Robyn) and Melissa (Kevin), five great-grandchildren - Natalie, Hayley, Bret, Landon and Ellie, her sister Sue and many nieces and nephews. Much thanksgiving goes to all of the staff at Holly Manor who gave care, comfort and love throughout Celeste’s four years there. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holly Manor Center Recreation Department, Mendham, NJ. Adhering to current restrictions with indoor gatherings, services for Celeste will be on Monday July 6, 2020 from 3-6 pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler in Madison. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. To leave a condolence or gesture for the family, please go to the "Tribute Wall" tab. We ask that you please keep Celeste’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
