Obituary of Richard Smolko

Richard Smolko, 61, of Succasunna passed away on July 23, 2020 at Morristown Medical Center. Born and raised in Morristown, Richard has resided in Succasunna for the past 20 years. Richard worked for the DPW in Morristown for over 20 years, before he retired in 2008. He was also a volunteer member of the Morristown Fire Dept. and the Wind Creek Casino. Richard is survived by his loving wife, DonnaMarie, and his devoted siblings, Barbara and Martin. He is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephews, Nicole (Tom), Victor (Kiri), Chris, Ashley, Sherwood, IV, Tyler, Jeremy, and Ella; as well as several cousins and their extended families; and many close friends. Visiting will be on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 1:00 -3:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 2:45pm, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. (Following current Covid-19 guidelines, only 25 people will be allowed in the building at any one time. Masks and social distancing are required.) The family acknowledges and understands that many are still uncomfortable to attend public gatherings and will be unable to attend the visiting. Interment will be private.
