Obituary of John J. Gallagher

John J. Gallagher, 83, of Brick, NJ passed away on September 30, 2020 in Morristown, NJ. Born in Donegal, Ireland, over the years John resided in New York, Dungloe, North Arlington, and Morris Plains, before moving to Brick two years ago. He worked as a Elevator Mechanic for the Local #1 for 40 years, until he retired in 2002. John is survived by his loving wife, Anne Gallagher, and his devoted children, Patrick Gallagher and his wife, Ann, Moya Gallagher, and her husband John, Cathy Van Zile, and her husband, Kris, and Kim Stork and her husband, Tom. He is also survived by his dear sister, Kate; his cherished grandchildren, John and Renee, Sinead and John, Owen, Megan, Braden, Maggie, Noah, Keira, Cian, and Andrew; as well as two his great-grandchildren, Olivia and Ainsley; and many beloved nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Margaret; and his siblings, Eugene, Winnie, Manus, Mary, and Jim. Visiting will be on Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 2-6pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. A Funeral Mass for John will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 10:00am at St. Virgil's Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of John may be made to: Save the Children (www.savethechildren.org). Given the current public health situation, while social distancing and masks will be observed at the services, the family understands if you are not comfortable attending, and knows that your prayers and thoughts are with them during this time.
