Obituary of Marjory J. Johnson
Please share a memory of Marjory to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marjory (Russell) Johnson, 91, of Morris Pains, NJ, died on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Marjory was born on January 19, 1926 in Hartford, CT. She was the daughter of Frank and Dorothy Russell.
Marjory grew up in West Hartford, CT, and enjoyed spending summers at her parent’s cottage, “Weneeda Rest”, at Columbia Lake, along with her brother, Frank, and her sister, Fay.
In 1945, she married Robert Johnson, the “boy across the street”, and together they raised four children.
Marjory and her family moved to Hanover Township in the early 1950s, and quickly became members of the Hildale Park Presbyterian Church in Cedar Knolls. She held many leadership positions, including: Clerk of the Session and Secretary to Pastor Tony McNaughton for many years. Marjory was devoted to the members of the Church, and will always be remembered for her cheerful nature and broad smile wherever she went.
Marjory moved to Sunrise of Morris Plains three years ago, but still enjoyed an occasional outing with her friends for “coffee and a bagel.”
Marjory is survived by her devoted children, Cheryl Jardine, of Mt. Arlington, NJ, Mark and Valerie Johnson, of Randolph, NJ, and Cindi and Ed Fisher, of Littleton, CO. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Frank and Peggy Russell, and Fay and Phil Trowbridge, all of CT; as well as her seven cherished grandchildren, and 11 adored great-grandchildren. Marjory was predeceased by her husband, Robert, her daughter, Wendy, her son, Michael, and her grandson, Jay Jardine.
She was a very special sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, February, 17, 2016 from 4-8pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. A Funeral Service for Marjory will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:00am at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge.
