Obituary of Andrew W. Moody

Andrew ("Andy") Moody Andrew W. ("Andy") Moody of Madison, NJ died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the age of 68. Born in Bangor, ME in 1952 to Dwight Campbell Moody and Frances (Drew) Moody, he grew up in West Hartford, CT. After graduating from Central Connecticut State University, he began work in an actuarial training program at the Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford, where he met his wife, Rebecca (Becky Murr) Moody. Andy and Becky were married in December 1979 and moved to Madison, NJ in 1982. Andy continued to take actuarial exams until becoming a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society in 1997. He held actuarial positions at Crum and Forster, Signet Star Reinsurance Company, Platinum Reinsurance Company and finally Renaissance Reinsurance Company, from which he retired in March 2020. Andy was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Madison and Harmonium Choral Society. He enjoyed photography, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and Legos (not necessarily in that order). An avid runner in his younger years, he had turned to bicycling as a means of exercise. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Peter, of Somerville, NJ and his daughter, Sarah, of Paulsboro, NJ, as well as his siblings, Dwight Moody of Altadena, CA, Stephen Moody of Cheshire, CT, Caroline Mandly of Bolivia, NC, Elizabeth Merz of Goshen, CT, Constance Knott of Sterling, VA, and Abigail Ashley of Southport, NC, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. His brother Peter Moody and sister Christine DesRoches predeceased him. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 20, 2021 in the sanctuary of the Presbyterian Church of Madison, 19 Green Avenue, Madison. Attendees are asked to be vaccinated and wear masks during the service. A recording will be available on the church’s YouTube channel following the service. Memorial donations to Harmonium Choral Society, PO Box 1317, Morristown, NJ 07962 or Presbyterian Church of Madison are welcome. Arrangements were under the care of Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, Madison.
