Obituary of Rose Simko

Rose "Almose" Simko, 102, of Florham Park, NJ, previously of Bridgeport, CT, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2020 at Brookdale Assisted Living, Florham Park. Rose was born August 17, 1918 in Bridgeport, CT. She attended Harding High School and after more than twenty years, she retired from the A&P Supermarket where she was a Cashier and Part Office Manager. Rose was among the first parishioners of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Trumball, CT, where she faithfully served as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She loved sharing her family's Syrian history by following holiday traditions, telling stories and preparing treasuered family recipes. Rose was reunited with her husband of forty two years, Stephen F. Simko, in Heaven. She was the beloved mother of Christine S. Wyatt and the devoted grandmother of Stephanie W. LaCoe (Scott) and Jessica W. Doninger (Bradford). Rose is also survived by her four adoring great-grandchildren, Hannah and William LaCoe and Lily and Gavin Doninger, and caring nieces and nephews, Maryann Chadwick, Barbara Downs, Mary Brodowski, Terry Naugher, Billy Saad, Joe Scalley, Jim Scalley, Jim Colodonato and Robert Simko. Rose faced life's challenges with a positive spirit. She had a heart of gold. Rose leaves a part of herself with each of us. We will miss her so very much. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumball, CT. Please check back for father details.
