Stephen Andrew Gentile, 54, passed away suddenly on December 20, 2020 at his home in Rockaway Township. He is survived by his son, Stephen, and his son’s fiancé, Amie; two beloved grandsons, Benjamin and Jack, of Beachwood, NJ; his mother, Gail Gentile; his father, Anthony Gentile; and his stepmother, Diana, all of Morris Plains, NJ. He also leaves his brother, Michael Gentile; his sister-in-law, Kathy; as well as his sister, Beth O’Connor, and her husband, Kevin, all residing in Randolph, in addition to his five adored nieces, Amanda, Kelly, Christina, Jessica and Shana. Stephen graduated from Morristown High School and The Chubb Institute. He worked at Baxter International as an IT Manager supporting their Laboratory Systems. Recently, he worked as a Lab Support Specialist for PerkinElmer at Merck Research & Development in Kenilworth, NJ. In his personal life, he spent his time riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, deep-sea fishing and camping. He was also a big fan of sports, especially the New York Jets and Yankees. He always gave freely and shared with anyone and everyone and spread joy wherever he traveled. A Memorial Mass for Stephen will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Virgil’s Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. (COVID rules will be respected - Social Distancing and Masks will be required. Maximum Capacity at St. Virgil's Church is 150 people.) The Mass will be live-streamed on St. Virgil’s website (www.stvirgilparish.org). Inurnment of ashes will be private for family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to provide help to those suffering the pain of addiction at www.ccpaterson.org/steveg. Arrangements are under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains.
