Obituary of Vincenzo Loia

Please share a memory of Vincenzo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vincent “Vince” Loia, 84, passed away at home on February 28, 2021. Vincent was born and raised in Tocco Caudio and Siena Italy. In 1965 he married Anna Carmela Ciavattone, and relocated to Firenze, Italy. Both immigrated to the United States in 1966, initially settling in Morristown, and then moving to Morris Plains in 1972. Vincent worked for Mepco Electra/North American Philips as an electronics operator, and later took a position in Maintenance with the Madison School District, where he worked for over 20 years. He retired in 2010. Vincent was a parishioner of St. Virgil’s Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. His Italian farming background gave Vincent a love for working his vegetable garden and making wine, both of which he shared with his son and grandsons. He worked hard to provide for his family, emphasizing the importance of education, good character, hard work, and the value of family. He sought to provide his children with a Catholic education at schools such as St. Virgil’s, Delbarton, and the Catholic University of America. He also helped his children remain tied to their Italian family, frequently bringing them back for extended stays in Italy. Vincent is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Anna C. Loia, his devoted son and daughter in-law, Robert A. and Betty Loia. He was a beloved grandfather of six, and is survived by his cherished grandchildren, Annamaria, Vincent, John, Bernadette, Anthony, and Peter Loia. He is also survived his dear sisters, Rosaria and Teresa (Donato), and by his beloved brothers, Giuseppe (Nicolina) and Pasquale (Maria); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vince was predeceased by his son, Joseph Vincent Loia. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, from 6-8 pm (Adhering to CDC guidelines) at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. A Funeral Mass for Vince will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at 10:30 am at St. Virgil’s Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Entombment will follow at Holy Rood Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of Vincent may be made to: St. Virgil's Parish (www.stvirgilparish.org).
