**FUNERAL SERVICE UPDATE - PLEASE CHECK SERVICE INFORMATION BELOW*** ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert M. Gregory passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 4th, 2021 at the age of 62. Bob was born on September 20th, 1958 in Morris Plains, NJ to Shirley (Hopping) and the late Charles Gregory Sr. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1976. He then attended Lincoln Technical Institute in Union, NJ for HVAC. As a knowledgeable man and talented mechanic, there was rarely an engine or machine Bob couldn’t fix. He worked for various HVAC companies before his employment with The Mennen Co. in Morristown, NJ (now Colgate Palmolive Co.) from 1991 - 2007. During his years at Mennen, Bob won a global award for his innovative redesign of the plant’s wastewater management system, saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars. In 2007 he and his family relocated to New Kent, VA, where he was employed as a Project Manager with Trane Co. Bob was brilliantly witty and always quick with a joke, wisecrack, or relatable comeback. He was a sincere man and offered logical advice in times of needed comfort. Otherwise known as “Bedrock,” Bob enjoyed boating and fishing but especially loved his Harley Davidson motorcycles and could be seen, or heard, riding on beautiful days. He took meticulous care of his bikes, cleaning them with Q-tips, and truly loved “getting in the wind.” He was one of the original members of the Low Riders Motorcycle Club in Morris County, NJ. There is individual freedom in a devout hobby that becomes passion, and it’s a simply beautiful thing that Bob effortlessly exemplified. However, what Bob loved most was his family, especially his children, whom he was so proud of. He took pride in coaching his boys sports teams when they were in elementary school and watching them grow into the men they are today. Surviving to keep his memory alive are his four children; Jennifer of Whippany, NJ; Jesse of Mechanicsville, VA and John and Joseph of New Kent, VA; his mother Shirley of Morris Plains, NJ and siblings Thomas of Morris Plains, NJ, Charles Jr. (Billie) of New Kent, VA, Nancy Schulze of Saylorsburg, PA, David of Whitehouse, NJ and Kathleen of Bellville, NJ. Also surviving are two grandsons, many nieces and nephews, his ex wife, Kathy Keller Gregory and the family’s beloved dog Hank who was named after Hank Williams Jr. as Bob was a fan of outlaw country music. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Gregory, Sr. and brother-in-law, Kevin Schulze, Sr. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 2:00-4:00pm, with a Celebration of Life at 4:00pm, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. (Guests entering the Funeral Home will be required to wear a face mask, or face covering, for the duration of their stay. Social distancing rules should be followed. During the visitation, a continuous flow throughout the Funeral Home will aid in keeping all of us safe; allowing everyone the opportunity to pay their respects.) In memory of Bob, play a Hank Williams Jr., Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash song, keep your family close and always tell them you love them.
