Obituary of Charles Francis Murphy

Charles Murphy, of Randolph, NJ passed away recently at Morristown Medical Center. Born and raised in Boston, MA, Charles also resided in Buffalo and Lockport, NY before moving to Randolph, NJ in 1956. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII. Charles earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from M.I.T. in 1951. During his career as a chemical engineer, he worked for companies including E.l. DuPont, Dewey & Almy, and ITT Rayonier. He retired in 1981 after working for 25 years at ITT Rayonier. Mr. Murphy was a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church in Morristown. Charles is survived by his devoted children, Elizabeth Ann Murphy, and her husband, Kevin Q. Brown, of Stanhope, NJ, Thomas Murphy, of Randolph, NJ, and Barbara J. Murphy, and her husband Peter O’Connor of Worcester, MA. Charles’ wife, Alice (“Betty”) Dority Murphy, predeceased him in 2012. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 2-4pm (*Adhering to CDC Guidelines – Social Distancing & Masks Required) at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Margaret’s Church, 6 Sussex Avenue, Morristown. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morris Township. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charles may be made to: St. Margaret’s Church, Morristown, NJ, or to a charity of your choice.
